Did you know that Lithium can not be found in its metal form in nature because of its strong reactivity to oxygen and water?

It is extracted as an ionic compound that is transformed into metal via electrolysis using molten salt techniques. The famous lithium metal is soft and of a silver grey colour and must be kept in an inert atmosphere.

And that’s good, since containment and inert atmosphere is our strong suit at Jacomex. Our gloveboxes are made in the highest leaktightness class standard ensuring the purity of the atmosphere and a purification system absorbs all the remaining O2 and H2O particules (down to <1ppm).
